The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil is a confirmation of this mutual intertwining of the artist with the outside world. This is a part of the work that has tended to remain in the background until now. The exhibited work takes the form of an inner landscape where mythological images emerge spontaneously, running entirely parallel to both outdoor experiences and scientific knowledge.

They can be perceived as an upside-down landscape that spontaneously emerges within Adam Kašpar. In this landscape, the painter turns to Sumerian and Gnostic myths about the nature of the world, and the expulsion from paradise has become his central theme. For it is precisely at that moment that one breaks away from all the splendor and horror of Arcadia—in the form of mountains, forests, nebulae, and stars—and acquires one’s own self-reflective consciousness.
