Gallery education has become an integral part of the activities of galleries, museums, and other cultural institutions. Although it is now an integral profession within the sector, its institutional framework and career opportunities continue to evolve. In the Czech Republic, the profession of cultural educator was not officially recognized until 2018. Furthermore, education often intersects with artistic and creative practice itself.

Who exactly is a cultural educator? Who can become one, and how wide a range of professional and other career opportunities does this field offer?

In an interview prepared by Paulína Horváthová from Shortcut Gallery in collaboration with Infame Radio, we’ll be welcoming Sára Némethová and Gajanè Achverdjanová. Together, we’ll focus on the nature of education in today’s artistic and cultural landscape and how the artistic practices of both guests—in this case, painting and audiovisual art—are reflected in it.
