The exhibition Thank God It’s Friday explores the experience of adulthood as a state between exhaustion, numbness and the search for motivation. Martina Horáková and František Štípek capture moments of resistance to the logic of work, performance and everyday functioning.

Martina Horáková (*1997) studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the Painting 3 studio, led by Josef Bolf, Jakub Hošek and Nik Timková. During her studies, she completed internships at FaVU in Brno in the studio of Vasil Artamonov and Marie Štindlová, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Milan Mikuláštík, Julius Reichel and Aleš Zapletal. Her practice focuses primarily on pencil and coloured-pencil drawing on canvas, complemented by airbrush and acrylic paint. She engages with themes of nostalgia and growing up, the search for motivation and the recording of everyday life, with a focus on female experience and perception. Her works have been presented as part of Residency AB3 (2025) and in a number of exhibitions, including at Art Space Nov in Pardubice (2025), Villa Emil Kolben (2025), Únětický Špejchar (2025), Galerie Sibiř in Brno (2024), Nová Perla near Krásná Lípa (2024), Přespolní in Lubná near Polička (2023) and the 4+4 Days in Motion festival (2023).

František Štípek (*1998) is a visual artist currently studying in the Art and Technology studio at UMPRUM in Prague. His practice is rooted primarily in the media of drawing and object-making, while also including video and video installation. Štípek’s work is marked by an interest in questions of contemporary politics and social events, which he approaches through a subtle aesthetic and a formally considered visual language. Collaboration is an important part of his artistic method: through dialogue with other artists, he explores the limits of his own expressive signs and expands the possibilities of his visual thinking. His recent exhibition projects include the joint exhibition Transporting Tendencies with Jakub Lukáš at City Surfer Office in Prague, and an exhibition with Ljuba Šlechtová at Galerie Olga.
