At his solo exhibition at Drdova Gallery, Hynek Alt deconstructs motivated photography. The motivatedness brings forth a strong motive as well as an emphasis on formal forcefulness and urgency of depiction. It is a doxa of digital circulation and visual oversaturation: recognizability, comprehensibility and sharpness. It is about the loss of explanation while requiring exact accuracy in relation to the genre, association chain, archetype. The carefully constructed aptness of the given general definition in an individual case enables a satisfying sense of interchangeability or arbitrariness of the particular, seamlessly verging into the abstract. An image clicking into mental structures, undisturbed by mistakes. Alt discovers certain clear forms activating neural connections, searching for a photograph that is ideal not from the perspective of artistic, historical or corporate conventions but in an environment of a non-verbal, somehow biologically natural selection of survival or oblivion.
