Screening of short films and a discussion with the curatorial collective Kino Palestine and filmmaker Theo Panagopoulos.
Films constructed from archival materials depict Palestine in the 1930s under British colonial rule. Through images captured by a foreigner, we recontextualize everyday civilian situations of that time from the perspective of a Palestinian born in the diaspora. On May 14, we will also commemorate the Nakba—the mass displacement and dispossession of Palestinians during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.
Screening programme:
– Tiberias (1935), 9 min.
– A Land with a People: A Palestinian Counternarrative (2025), 14 min.
– The Flowers Stands Silently, Witnessing (2024), 17 min.
The event also includes a curated selection of Palestinian literature at the ArtMap bookstore. The programme will be held in English.
