Guided tour with art historian Gabriela Pelikánová.

We know that Jureček was a great collector and patron of the arts. This is evidenced by his extensive collection of artworks, which he donated to the House of Art. However, Jureček was primarily a builder. This profession was passed down in his family from father to son.

As builders, they were very versatile. This versatility intensified even further when another skilled builder, Otokar Bém, married into the family. We will focus on some of the Jureček family’s projects together. Among their projects in the city center are the National House, the Czech Real Gymnasium, the Convent of the Sisters of Mercy, and, for example, the Moravian-Ostrava Citizens’ Credit Union.

Let’s explore Ostrava together through the eyes of František Jureček. We’ll meet in front of the House of Art and set off through the city in his footsteps.

Reservations. The event takes place on the streets of Ostrava; we recommend wearing comfortable shoes and, in case of inclement weather, bringing an umbrella or raincoat.
