What stories lie behind the paintings that once adorned the walls of the Heller family’s villa in Hranice, Moravia?

A guided tour led by Jana Jirásková will take visitors through an exhibition of artworks from the collection of textile entrepreneur Stefan Heller and, at the same time, reveal the dramatic fates of his family during the Nazi occupation. It will shed light on the circumstances surrounding the Gestapo’s confiscation of the family’s entire estate following the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, as well as the search for the lost paintings and other furnishings from the family’s residences. The narrative will also include the story of the return of these cultural assets to Stefan Heller’s descendants.
