Jan Nálevka: And now let's finally turn the page
23. 5. – 4. 8. 2018, Fait Gallery
curator: Jiří Ptáček

The exhibition And now let’s finally turn the page is a kind of audit of a group of extensive series of drawings from the last ten years, based on the different parameters of A4 format sheets of paper. In large, seemingly very similar sets of drawings the artist systematically explores at which meanings and connections he can arrive through their constant redrawing. Jan Nálevka was born in 1976 and lives in Prague, but the beginnings of his career path are closely linked to Brno. With his exhibition, the gallery presents a distinct figure in Czech art with a unique and radical artistic programme.

Markéta Othová: 1990–2018
23. 5. – 4. 8. 2018, Fait Gallery MEM
curator: Denisa Kujelová

Markéta Othová works with large-format mostly black and white photographs, documenting ordinary subjects and the most mundane moments the meaning of which, be it through subtle phasing or through the multiplication of a moment within a series of identical photos, is only determined by the syntax of the whole. In this exhibition project, which is partially a retrospective, the artist presents sequences of everyday personal objects and in a style reminiscent of archive documentation systematically records her personal life, which in the legitimate general validity of a selected model can relate to any of us, giving the viewer a possibility of their own, highly intimate reflection.

Valentýna Janů: Salty Mascara
23. 5. – 4. 8. 2018, Fait Gallery PREVIEW
kurátorka: Laura Amann

Karaoke. Subtitles. Audio descriptions. A sunset. Light therapy. Lucid dreams.

Categories fade into each other in all of these situations. The written transforms into a melody. Words change image and imagination. Imagery is transcribed to read-aloud-text. Light becomes dark. Moods and states shift according to photons. The surreal feels real. Intimacy becomes alienation. Valentýna Janů’s installation ‘Salty Mascara’ is an exploration of our sensually nuanced perception when exposed to situations where it is not clear anymore where poetry starts and imagery ends.
