The exhibition Olbram Zoubek and Friends is prepared on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of sculptor Olbram Zoubek (1926-2017), commemorating a personality who played a fundamental role in the development of Czech sculpture. Zoubek graduated from the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Prague, where he studied in Josef Wagner's studio, focusing on the restoration of Renaissance sgraffito. During his studies he married his classmate, sculptor Eva Kmentová. Together they worked in the art groups Trasa and Nová skupina. After Kmentová's death, he remarried to Maria Edlmanová and lived alternately in Prague and Litomyšl.

Zoubek is, among other works, the author of the posthumous mask of Jan Palach and the tombstone at Olšanské cemetery, which was removed by the communist regime. During the period of normalization he made his living mainly as a restorer and was forbidden to exhibit. 

Archive of Fine Arts in cooperation with Nadační fond Kmentová Zoubek is preparing an exhibition conceived unconventionally as a showcase of photographs by various authors. These reflect Zoubek's life and work in the context of his friends and personalities from his close surroundings. Although Zoubek is primarily known to the public as the author of many sculptural works for architecture, the photographs on display offer a unique insight into his studio, openings and gallery spaces.
