Spring mood arrived to the residency floor! We have a lot of things coming up: the next Kičn Betl with Joaquin Segura, Tracy Featherstone's exhibition opening and of course open studios of our international artists-in-residence:

Tracy Featherstone (U.S.):
Tracy Featherstone earned a BFA from the University of Cincinnati and a MFA from the University of Arizona. Her work is exhibited Internationally and she has taught art in three continents including the US, China, and Luxemburg. Current research includes the investigation of the way ideas are translated across visual media, cultural identity, and time. The project explores the space between objects, not just the objects themselves. Focus is on the subjectivity that surrounds factual information and the idiosyncrasies in communication or the non-communicable is explored. Featherstone resides in the US and is currently an Associate Professor of Art at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Joaquin Segura (MEX):
Joaquin Segura’s highly-diverse oeuvre meditates on violence as an omnipresent motif in contemporary life. His recent production is visibly concerned about the nature of power & political apparatuses nowadays, constructing a practice deeply fascinated by the fissures &
contradictions in extreme ideologies and the crucial role these have played in the globalization of socio-political crisis, mainly explored through constant references to specific historical events. Through his unpredictable works, Segura aims to reach an art of destabilization, elaborating a poetic of sabotage through apparently random acts of
provocation, which relate to impotence, denial & deception, here and now.

Taf Hassam (NL) and Kirby Mages (US):
Taf Hassam (1980, UK) is an artist and organiser. He studied Photography and English Literature in Brighton and later settled in Ireland where he had an active role in the art, theatre and music scenes. In 2005, he moved to Amsterdam to study at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (NL) receiving a Bachelor in Fine Art and an Honours Degree in Artistic Research & Scientific Practice. Between 2008 and 2010 he completed a Master in Fine Art at The Dutch Art Institute (NL).?
Taf Hassam’s work oscillates between photography, text, performance, and sound, and often assumes curatorial and editorial roles as forms of artistic practice. Generally his work deals with activating what he calls ‘the dead space’ of the conventional exhibition model, while highlighting the interrelationships between cultural production and politics. His practice extends to producing homemade publications, music events, lectures, exhibitions, and his topics can range from questions surrounding self-organisation, marginalised and fictionalised histories, to the history of free expression in music. In 2010, he co-founded Goleb, an independent art space in Amsterdam where he continues to work as an organiser.
