Graphic art is created through transfer—the image travels from the matrix to the paper and is transformed in the process. The same principle is reflected in the exhibition’s title PŘES, meaning “across” or “through.” In a city of bridges and footbridges, where something is crossed every day, this graphic essence suddenly takes on an unexpectedly concrete form. The exhibition thus connects printmaking, imprints, and traces with the memory of the historic LuGy—the former Lutheran high school on the square in Velké Meziříčí. The graphic arts group Pres Nostres will present works that, thanks to large-format prints and graphic experiments, push the medium beyond its traditional boundaries.
