At a Crossroads: Interwar Architecture in Japan
26. 06. 2026 - 01. 11. 2026
What happens when a gallery turns into a forest? A place where you can stop, browse through books, discover new connections, and perceive the world around you in a slightly different way?
The project The Power of Life will transform the Inkubátor Gallery into a playful environment inspired by the wildness of nature. It will showcase the work of students and graduates from the Didactic Illustration, Comics and Children’s Illustration, and Animation studios at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Their work combines imagination and playfulness with themes of sustainability, the diversity of nature, and our relationship with the environment.
The central element of the installation will be an imaginary forest created from strips of fabric bearing ecological messages. Among them will be space for projections, art books to browse through, and places to sit and relax. It is not merely an exhibition of illustration and animation, but also an invitation to slow down, observe, and explore on your own.
The theme builds on this year’s Jiří Trnka International Symposium 2026, which explores the power of life in all its forms—from the dynamics and vitality of nature to the human capacity for empathy. How can we better understand the world we share, and what role do images, stories, or personal experience play in this?
