The Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art (LSFDA) at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen is one of the Czech Republic's youngest and most dynamic art schools. The faculty's primary focus is design and applied arts, which it understands as an open field situated between aesthetics, technology, and social responsibility. The faculty's interdisciplinary approach fosters collaboration not only within individual studios, but also with the technical and humanities disciplines of the university. These connections enable students to work within broader contexts and make use of state-of-the-art workshops, laboratories, and specialised studios.

The faculty, known as 'Sutnarka', is housed in an architecturally distinctive building on the UWB campus and offers Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral programmes led by prominent figures from the Czech and international art and design scenes. Teaching is closely linked to professional practice, research and collaboration with industry and international partners. Students regularly participate in exhibitions, competitions, and realised projects that address the urgent challenges of the contemporary world. Through its focus and values, the faculty continues the legacy of Ladislav Sutnar, a designer, thinker, and visionary who believed that design was primarily a tool for understanding, communication, and cultivating public spaces.
