Moravská galerie v Brně – Uměleckoprůmyslové muzeum / Brno
Terén is kicking off its 8th season. At the Representatives’ Club, we’ll meet with the creative teams behind Státky, and we’ll wrap up the evening with a release party for the compilation Synthetic Water Music from the Slovak label mappa.
The nine-part series STÁTKY is entering the second half of its year-long program. Together with the creators, we’ll present this fall’s events and look back on those that have already taken place.
Historian Václav Kaška will speak at the Councilors’ Club about a set of 20 significant days in the Czech Republic that, unlike national holidays, are not days off from work. In his work, Kaška specializes in contemporary history, the history of communism in Czechoslovakia, and the pedagogy of history.
The release party also celebrates 10 years of publishing and organizing activities by the Slovak label mappa. Katov Syn(th) and Tomáš Knoflíček, two musicians who contributed to the Synthetic Water Music compilation, will perform live in the courtyard of the Representatives’ Club in dialogue with the fountain and a sculpture by Jiří Marek.
Synthetic Water Music is the second of three compilations following the album *Synthetic Bird Music* and is timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the mappa label. Just as with the “birds” compilation, this one brings together friends of the label—artists who have previously released music on mappa or performed at our concerts. Most of the music is new, created specifically for this compilation, with a large portion coming from artists in Central and Eastern Europe.
Katov Syn(th) is a solo project by Slovak artist, musician, and multi-instrumentalist Dominik Novák, in which he blends field recordings, ambient music, and modular synthesizers. You can listen to his work at this link.
Tomáš Knoflíček is a curator, musician, and sound experimenter, primarily associated with the group Gurun Gurun; in his solo work, he combines processed field recordings, electronics, and acoustic instruments. You can listen to his work at this link.
