What constitutes a space of sincerity and natural being, which is constantly distorted by the mechanisms of market-driven systems of power, visuality, and desire? How many objects do we need to be able to reflect on their meaning, function, and value—which Jane Bennett, for example, describes as the power of things—and which, beyond other philosophical arguments, explicitly shape the spaces we inhabit, as well as our memory, emotions, and intuition?

The exhibition Sometimes I wish to see all my things in a great fire connects several levels of her research into the perception and function of space, as well as her interest in themes related to problematic approaches to materiality and the accumulation of objects —of objects. Here, she also continues to reevaluate relationships with plants as independent entities capable of individual experience and coexistence beyond the framework of explicitly anthropocentric thinking based on their objectification. The series of paintings created in 2026 is also a reaction to a sense of being overwhelmed by objects and activity, and it highlights the need to reconstruct our relationship to space or physical ownership.

Veronika Šavarová is a visual artist working with the media of painting, drawing, objects, and installation. She has long been engaged with themes such as the phenomenon of liminal space, nostalgia, memory, plants, and symbolism. She is interested in the concept of space within internet aesthetics such as dreamcore, weirdcore, and others. In her work, she explores the possibilities of bringing silence and timelessness to life in a two-dimensional image. She graduated from the Painting Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology (FaVU VUT), where she is currently a doctoral student in the Department of Traditional Media. Her work is included in the collections of COLLETT Prague | Munich, a. s. and the Brno City Museum.
