In his series of works Future Polis Vladimír Houdek fathoms disposals of concentric circles and polygons. In a gloomy coloration the Czech artist opens a look back to the future. With the graphic appearence of their forms the pictures remind of early, idealized charts of planet systems or emblems from utopistic film worlds. The surfaces of the paintings in turn show traces, which apparently hark back to wears by mechanic work and at once appear as stardust.

Machines and the univers still define human visions of future. But how future will look like exactly, we can´t know, so Houdek, who´s works constitute equally a timeless statement to a prognose: „It will be abstract“.

In seiner Werkserie Future Polis lotet Vladimir Houdek Anordnungen von konzentrischen Kreisen und Polygonen aus. In düsterer Farbgebung eröffnet der tschechische Künstler dabei einen Blick zurück in die Zukunft. Mit der grafischen Anmutung ihrer Formen erinnern die Bilder an frühe, idealisierte Schautafeln von Planetensystemen oder an Embleme utopistischer Filmwelten. Die Oberflächen der Malereien wiederum zeigen Spuren, die scheinbar auf Abnutzungen durch mechanische Arbeit zurückgehen und gleichzeitig als Sternennebel wirken.

Maschinen und Weltraum bestimmen nach wie vor menschliche Zukunftsvisionen. Wie aber die Zukunft genau aussehen wird, können wir nicht wissen, so Houdek, dessen Werke gleichsam ein zeitloses Statement zur Prognose darstellen: „Sie ist abstrakt.“
