What can we learn from Romani cooking and gardening about ways of life that are more friendly toward those around us—both human and non-human? How should we approach inherited culinary practices, metabolic relationships, and differences? Can the processes taking place in the kitchen, the garden, or the forest inspire us to think, feel, and regenerate? And how can they help us respond to the interconnected crises of climate change, rising living costs, and an atmosphere of sexism, ableism, and anti-Gypsyism? Vývar focuses precisely on these questions. It explores interethnic encounters with Romani food practices and examines the memories, gestures, materials, places, emotions, and history they embody.

The evening’s program includes:
– a book presentation
– a Q&A with the authors, students, and lecturers in the fields of gender studies and anthropology
– a group cooking session featuring recipes from the book

The book launch will be followed at 6:30 p.m. by a concert by Tomáš Niesner.
