We invite you to the accompanying program What the Streets Remember for the exhibition Cairo Streets at the Kontext Gallery, curated by Marguerite Farag and Zaher Jureidini.

The program includes a screening of Abdellah Taï’s debut feature film Salvation Army followed by a discussion with Lebanese artist Marwan Kaabour, editor of the book The Queer Arab Glossary, and the curators.

Together, they will explore how storytelling shapes our personal and collective identities and how we can seek out and document our own history where official records are lacking or where language barriers stand in the way. The discussion will bring together film, literature, and language, and will explore questions of the queer experience, self-discovery, and the need to tell our own histories.
