Vernon Gallery presents the work of German artist Wilhelm Heiliger, whose work is admired by art lovers worldwide. The artist attempts to communicate unique philosophical and emotional perceptions of colors – by using geometric abstractions of architectural realities.

Wilhelm Heiliger (Luttenberg, 1944) is a German artist, whose work is admired by art lovers worldwide. Heiliger studied Slavic languages, philosophy, and graphics.  Graphics became the basis of his art work. Wilhelm combines in his art photography philosophical values with color abstractions.

His work, however, is not limited only to Europe. In 1973 he moved to Washington DC and later to California, where he worked at Stanford University. He has published several books related to Soviet and Chinese personalities, and, in 1974, he became interested in photography.

Monika Burian Jourdan, the gallery owner, speaks about Heiliger as follows: " Wilhelm's work interests me because of his colors and forms. The color and geometry are the expression of his worldview. Geometry simplifies values and color gives it its content . Geometry is concreteness and color the depth of reality. Wilhelm prefers to combine colors and surfaces, which interact with each other ( color variations, the brightness of colors, the saturation of  colors ). He also uses the contrast of complementary colors: red - green, yellow - blue, orange - purple. Wilhelm, however, is not only an artist. He is an open minded world traveler who loves life and the world around him.  Wilhelm is at the same time an artist and researcher – writer. His work is a logical progression of his life's journey. His artwork is being collected worldwide, both in private and museum collections.

Wilhelm exhibited his work, among others, in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, Sweden, China, India, Australia, as well as in the United States - at the Museum of Modern Art, San Jose, California. Heliger speaks of his art as follows: „Concrete art is pure happiness and the first step into the universe. The perception of concrete art transforms our values into infinite music.“

The opening of the exhibition will take place on July 2nd, at 18.00 Hours, at the Vernon Gallery.  Wilhelm Heiliger will be present.

Gallery Vernon was founded in 2001 by its director, Monika Burian Jourdan. From the start, Vernon's objective has been clear: to support quality contemporary art and present it to the public. Its vision is to place Czech and international art side by side as equal partners and look for links between artists who may never have met, but are nonetheless united by something. Gallery is located at Janáčkovo nábřeží 21, Prague 5, is open to the public on Wednesday, Thursday 12 – 7 pm, Friday 12 – 5 pm, Saturday 10.30 am – 6 pm. The entrance fee is 30 CZK, on every first Wednesday of the month free entrance.
