Aleš Růžička has focused thematically on landscapes since his arrival on the contemporary art scene. Gradually, his focus has shifted from the exterior to the interior, moving towards another traditional genre – still life. In Aleš Růžička's work there is no attempt to copy the visible world; rather, in his paintings there is a memory of a flower, a floral sensation. Through the flower he depicts everything that accompanies a person through life: happiness and anxiety, joy and pain, transience. 

Characteristic of his work is expressive, impulsive, sovereign gesture, supported at times by three-dimensional pastoral painting. In Aleš Růžička's work there is also a limitation of colour to the basic contrast of white and black. He approaches the psychological state of the individual - reverie, melancholy, aggression, love, fear, expectation, joy. The result is works with private symbolism, which allow us to experience with the artist the inner state of mind, to perceive the emotion that is so much embedded in the work. 

Aleš Růžička is a contemporary Czech painter, born on 31 August 1977 in Tábor. From 1995 to 1997 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, in the studio of landscape painting (F. Hodonský), from 1997 to 2002 in the studio of painting (A. Střížek, M. Rittstein). In 2006, he received an important art award - the Václav Chad Prize (IV Zlín Youth Salon). Aleš Růžička's work is represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague, the Felix Jenewein Gallery in Kutná Hora, the KGVU in Litoměřice and in private collections in the Czech Republic and abroad. The painter lives and works in Prague.
