How do we make sense of the feeling of losing a common world? The more at home we feel in the global information network, the more we use it to defend our particular homeland against real and imagined threats. The ideological clashes of cultural worlds are played out against the backdrop of fatal changes to the physical world. Though these are changes we have wrought, they are now beyond our control. What we lack in this complex reality is an intermediary who would provide guidance as we move between overlapping conflicting environments.
