The exhibition by artist Jan Macků (*1996) opens the door to the colourful world of comics and illustration; it is the first realisation in the new ZČG exhibition line, focusing on the work of talented individuals from among contemporary artists.

A quality comics creator must be a good draughtsman and a good scriptwriter at the same time. He can thus be likened to a filmmaker - but his film takes place on paper. Jan Mack's work is no exception in this respect. The distinctive and stylish artwork of his comics is complemented by a functional storyline that allows the reader to put the comic down only when he or she has finished the last page.

The author combines peppery humour, surreal exaggeration, explicitness and absurd plot hyperboles in his work. He likes to walk the line between seriousness and farce, and is not afraid to be controversial or vulgar. He often draws on his own life or seemingly mundane situations, which he can, however, transform in original ways through playful dialogues.

The exhibition features a broader spectrum of the artist's work. The exhibition presents a selection of his most recent comic material, illustrations, free and applied works, or a series of sketches and drawings created as part of conceptual work on upcoming projects.
