What mark do places, people, and moments that have already passed leave on us?
The temporary installation Echo of Being by photographer and visual artist Jianquan Li combines photography, projection, sound, and subtle movement into a single, ever-changing whole. Images appear and disappear in the space, overlapping and reappearing in new contexts. Just like memories, which never remain the same, yet persist within us.
The exhibition explores themes of memory, closeness, and distance. It offers neither a single narrative nor a fixed interpretation. Rather, it creates a space to pause and perceive what remains present even when it is no longer visible. Visitors can move freely between images, sound, and empty spaces, seeking their own path through a landscape of memories and traces.
Jianquan Li is a photographer and visual artist based in Prague. He is currently completing his master’s degree at UMPRUM. In his work, he employs photography, self-published photobooks, and graphic techniques. He is interested in themes of memory, intimacy, desire, and cultural distance. He perceives photography not only as an image, but also as a material and a space for experimentation. Through his work with light, paper, smoke, and physical interventions on the surface, he explores how our perception changes and what traces memories leave behind.
