Klára Sedlo has profiled herself as a figurative painter with a focus on symbolic representations of people, feelings or objects since the beginning of her career. She finds inspiration in the inner world of visions and dreams, which gradually materializes. She works with the viewer's subconscious, creating her stories and imaginary landscapes while using contemporary expressive elements - absurd jokes and moments. The result is strange, perhaps even frightening, but in a way also funny and sometimes ironic. The artist tells these stories without words using symbols and colours.
Klára Sedlo works mostly with oil or acrylic paints, mixing only three basic colours - yellow, blue, red with white. Colour is no longer just an aesthetic choice, but an expression of emotion. Painting thus becomes a window into parallel worlds that are vivid, colourful and constantly changing. The paintings, full of contrasts, cheerful and melancholic, encourage the viewer's imagination to uncover stories and develop their own continuations.
The current Czech painter was born in 1993 in Prague, and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where she studied in the painting studio (M. Rittstein) and in the drawing studio (J. Petrbok) from 2014-2020. Klára Sedlo was a finalist of the Berlin BBA Artist Prize in 2019 and a finalist of MostynOpen21 in the UK in 2023. Klára Sedlo's work is represented in over 100 private collections in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, the United States and Australia. The painter lives and works in Prague.
