Site-specific symposium Umění do Znojma, which will take place in the historic building of a former monastery, will showcase the work of prominent Czech artists.
The symposium’s concept is based on a dialogue between contemporary art and the historical and spiritual context Loucký Monastery, whose architecture and genius loci create an exceptionally inspiring space for site-specific art. The theme is the contrast between asceticism and hedonism—two poles that raise questions about the relationship between body and spirit, renunciation and pleasure, spirituality, consumerism, and the shifting values of contemporary society.
In addition to the exhibition itself, the symposium will provide insight into the creative process through open studios, discussions, guided tours, and public events. The opening will feature a guided tour, a discussion on the project’s theme, and an accompanying music and performance program.
