In the installation I Dreamed I Was Going Outside, the artist uses quilted objects made of hemp paper to evoke faint memories of the world beyond the walls of the room. The theme of escaping from a confined space resonates particularly during the summer months, when prolonged heat waves drive us off the streets and into the shade, behind drawn blinds, and within the four walls of our interiors. The landscape outside the windows continues to exist, yet it gradually recedes and transforms into a memory or a dream.
