Coats of arms on the streets and a new tourist route with researchers Jiří Brňovják and Vítězslav Vilímek.

Do you notice the emblems you come across on the streets of Ostrava? Can you tell which city district they belong to? And do you know how many heraldic landmarks are hidden on buildings, small objects, or even right in your own home? We’ll be talking with Jiří Brňovják and Vítězslav Vilímek from the University of Ostrava about the coats of arms of the city and its districts that we can encounter in Ostrava’s public spaces. We’ll also present a methodology designed for amateur researchers who want to get involved in researching Ostrava’s heraldry and help document small objects bearing municipal coats of arms that they have at home or have discovered in their neighborhood.

We’re also interested in your perspective: Which publicly accessible heraldic landmarks in Ostrava do you consider the most important? Which ones should be included in the new tourist route? The evening will therefore feature a public discussion, the results of which will help in the preparation of the planned heraldic tour of Ostrava.
