In September, Brno will once again become a hub for raw and authentic art. The sixth annual international conference ART BRUT BRNO is, for the first time this year, dividing its program into two distinct worlds: ART BRUT and ART THERAPY. The central theme of this year’s event is transformation, which will be explored by speakers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Germany.

The conference will kick off on Wednesday, September 16, with a special program at Kino Art: a film screening marking the 125th anniversary of the birth of Jean Dubuffet, the founder of the term “art brut.”

Thursday is dedicated to art brut: its history, studio practice, galleries, collecting, and international collaboration. The day will culminate with the opening of an exhibition featuring contemporary works from Brno studios, with a performance by musician Martin Kyšperský. A film dedicated to Antonín Krejčíř, founder of the KreAt Studio, directed by Slovak director Lubomír Štecko, will also be screened.

Friday will be dedicated to art therapy—therapeutic and artistic approaches, mental health, and the sharing of best practices. The program also includes a Self-Care course inspired by collaborative-dialogic practice and accredited by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
