Contagion / A journal of the plague year
09. 05. 2017 16:00–16:00
Atrium Žižkov / Praha 3
Curator: Anežka Bartlová
The basis is a good armor against the unfamiliar, against possible diseases, against history. It is known that Yersinia pestis, plague bacteria, has been surviving for hundreds years down in the bottom layers – been vaccinated? An invisible and potentially killing enemy in incredibly beautiful scenery is an accessible danger, well helpful; can wake us up from a casual day and wake up buried emotions. Being not necessarily decadent, at most slightly baroque. Vision of endless growth serves as armor from the unfamiliar, from diseases, from death. History doesn´t ask, well.
Jan Boháč will open an installation in Žižkov Atrium responding to the layers of history under the Gallery area which is placed on the plague cemetery from the beginning of the 18th century.
The exhibition runs untill May 11.
