We invite you to a special intergenerational gathering at the museum, where children and grandparents will meet around one table. Together we will observe plants, explore their shapes and colours, and translate them into delicate watercolour paintings under the guidance of children’s book illustrator Aneta Františka Holasová.

The programme will begin with a short visit to the exhibition presenting the work of the artistic duo Věra Nováková and Pavel Brázda. Motifs of flowers, gardens and free-growing vegetation frequently appear in their drawings, watercolours and paintings – sometimes as subtle details, sometimes as the central theme. The exhibition also features books to which both artists contributed, including What Words Can Tell, the botanical book Our Perennials with plant illustrations, and the book My Dear Brothers by Helena Čapková.

Attentive observation of plants creates a natural connection to the work of Aneta Františka Holasová. In her illustrations—often created using watercolour—she explores natural motifs and botanical details in a way similar to the artists featured in the exhibition, though expressed through the language of contemporary illustration. In the book The Herbal Book: Our Grandmother’s Natural Magic, she accompanies the story of a grandmother who teaches her granddaughters how to recognise medicinal herbs and understand their uses. This intergenerational experience—sharing knowledge, observing nature and discovering things together—is also the inspiration behind our workshop.

We will paint from real plants, observing them closely, exploring their structure, shapes and fine details, and translating them into drawings and delicate watercolour paintings. The workshop offers space for shared creativity and the exchange of experiences across generations—in the inspiring environment of the Museum of Fine Arts Liberec.
