The Museum of Fine Arts Liberec was founded in 1953. It is the fifth largest art museum in the Czech Republic, with collections comprising around 22,000 works of art from the Czech lands, Germany, Austria, France, the Netherlands, and other European countries. These include paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, as well as historical objects. For more than sixty years, the museum was housed in the Liebieg Palace; at the end of February 2014, it moved to the former municipal baths, where it remains to this day. Visitors are offered an attractive experience in the form of three permanent exhibitions and a wide range of temporary exhibitions that change throughout the year. In addition, the museum places a strong emphasis on education. Its education department provides accompanying programmes for schools and families with children, and during the holidays it organises suburban summer camps for children.
