Pablo Picasso / Returning to the International Collection
18. 03. 2026 - 10. 05. 2026
"I made several books, some photographs and also films," is how Jiří Toman (1924-1972) described his work in Notes to his own biography.
This photographer associated with Pardubice and Polabie, illustrator and author of award-winning animated films is known not only as Sudek's "teacher" but also, thanks to his friends, as a pioneer of conceptualism and a forerunner of action art. He is no longer a forgotten artist, but his vast legacy is still awaiting a thorough treatment.
The exhibition Hotové nudle – as Toman called the developed negatives of panoramas – is based on the experience of browsing through a plethora of the author's photographic material, in which themes and motifs layer and cross, appear and disappear again. Ten photographs, mostly from the Baltic coast and his native Pardubice, which Toman selected as representative and sent to competitions and editorial offices, are supplemented by the photographer's working material and newly made contacts.
curatorial concept: Václav Šafka, Viktorie Vítů
architecture: Anna Křížová
The exhibition presents material stored in the Benedikt Rejt Gallery in Louny.
