Injustice Rectified: The Story of Stefan Heller's Collection
29. 08. 2026 11:00
Moravská galerie v Brně – Pražákův palác / Brno
The exhibition presents an exceptional collection of artworks from the collection of Moravian entrepreneur Stefan Heller. Confiscated during the Second World War, these works remained in state collections for decades. Thanks to extensive provenance research, their origins have now been confirmed and the restitution process successfully completed.
The exhibition tells not only the story of a remarkable art collection, but also one of justice, dialogue, and the restoration of historical memory. Through cooperation between the Moravian Gallery and the heirs of the Heller family, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, four key artworks have been secured for the cultural heritage of Brno: three have been reacquired for the gallery’s collections, while a fourth was generously donated by the Heller family.
Join us for the opening of an exhibition that commemorates the history of one family, highlights the value of cultural heritage, and reflects the importance of addressing historical injustices.
