A creative workshop for children in collaboration with 4AM and FaVU VUT, in which each participant will build their own “talking stone” — a simple communication device without a screen, made of electronic components and clay. The stone enables silent, vibrating message sharing among group members and offers an alternative way of connecting without words or images. At the end of the workshop, there will be a team game in which participants will communicate solely using their “talking stones.”

The program focuses on understanding the manufacturing processes, material composition, and form of electronic devices, as well as reflecting on their everyday use and impacts. In addition to fostering creative thinking and collaboration, the goal is to establish a mindful approach to technology. The talking stone demonstrates that technology does not have to be disruptive, complex, or overwhelming—it can be subtle, playful, and connecting.

Daniel Gális and David Hloušek are designers and researchers working at the intersection of art, design, and technology. Both are pursuing master’s degrees at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology, and in their work they combine technical skill with a sensitive approach to materials, ranging from electronics and code to sound and clay. Daniel focuses on interaction design, sound, and experimental “quiet computers” without screens. David focuses on off-grid music, lighting, and communication devices. Together, they lead workshops on music production, programming, and the collective creation of DIY objects, in which they show both children and adults that technology can be gentle, playful, and connecting—that is, a tool for concentration, collaboration, and mutual care.
