Monika is a collective practice, the storyteller of our stories and the character we dress up as when we can't anymore. In an experiential session, we will use costume (a robe and balaclava) to become Monica together and try to renew our love of work. We will offer the opportunity to lose face in front of others, at least for a while, to immerse ourselves in our own imposter-syndrome and bathe in the shame of wasted time.
What to expect:
> Pressure Massage
> Body Surface Care
> Waiting Room with guidance on (work) life
> Expert Guidance
> Who Cares Wellbeing
Who Cares Club Sessions is a series of gatherings over the maintenance of minds, bodies and things. A space to share activities, thoughts, experiences, dreams, as well as fatigue and frustration. Together with invited guests, we will create collective situations throughout the year in which maintenance becomes not only work, but also rest, (self-)care, fun, resistance and togetherness.
The first session, led by Zuzana Kubíková, will be followed by an experiential afternoon with the Monika collective - a collective identity, a superheroine of fatigue, and an artistic collective made up mainly (but not exclusively) of the bodies of Anna Chrtková, Matyáš Grimmich and Karolína Schön. The collective was formed as a self-supporting group with the aim of resisting the ever-present pressure to perform together. In their exhibitions, they create narrative experiential environments and tell stories of social burnout, individual disintegration and caring companionship through performative videos.
Sessions are a companion activity to the publication of the zine Who Cares, the first issue of which was produced by 4AM in the summer of 2025. The zine thematizes maintenance not only as a practical activity, but as a carrier of values, identities and a means of creating relationships. Through contributions across theoretical considerations, interviews, photo essays and poetic texts, it explores activities that are often marginalized or automated, yet fundamentally shape our everyday lives.
