Suzanne Pastor’s photographic work from the 1970s to the present has increasingly explored the possibilities of the third dimension—conceptual as well as literal. Her subjects include sexuality, poetry and feelings of displacement.  She presents a kind loving poetic commentary on the history of the medium itself, especially how it has been packaged over time (hand-colored, in mats, albums, books, with text combinations, collage, etc.).  “I possess at the very least - curiosity - a need to experiment with, to enhance the two dimensionality of the photographic print.. Using sequential images, as in a book form, is an enormously powerful tool.. Layering of time and space in three-dimensional assemblages provides additional freedom of form and material, most useful for the would-be sculptor..” S. Pastor, Praha, 2008

Suzanne Pastor (*1952, Chicago) studied psychology at Northwestern, Harvard and Cornell universities (1975) and photography at Art Institute of Chicago and Kassel university (1985). She moved to Prague in 1990 to become co-founder and first curator of Prague House of Photography. Her work is in the collections of many museum and private collections (Museum Ludwig, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Moravian Gallery, Brno and many others.).  She won first prize at Bratislava Fotofestival for Best Artist Book 2000. www.suzannepastor.com
