In 2026, the programme of Kino CIT / Galerie Kontext will focus on manifestations of political activism. Individual thematic sections will be developed by internal and external curatorial teams, offering perspectives from within cultural and political contexts where civil liberties are under acute threat. The first output of the series will once again commemorate the anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Resistance Support Club platform.

As part of the exhibition, Kino CIT will host a continuous screening of the film QIRIM (2023, 9 min.) by Kateryna Khtramsova. This short documentary follows the non-binary person Antonina Romanov, who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 25 February 2022 to defend her country, democratic values, and the rights of LGBTQI+ people. Formerly a civilian artist and performer, Antonina has become a symbol of a broader reality: LGBTQI+ people fighting alongside others, often despite hostility and heightened risk. The film highlights their courage, the dangers they face, and the importance of visibility in the ongoing struggle for equal rights and the institution of registered partnerships in Ukraine.

The exhibition will also include several accompanying events. On Tuesday, 24 February, a commemorative gathering will take place marking the anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the ArtMap Bookstore, visitors can look forward to a discussion on contemporary Ukrainian literature, a presentation of a photography book by Ukrainian visual artist Vitalii Matukhno, and a screening of the film Once Upon a Time in Ukraine by Oscar-winning director Tetiana Khodakivska at Kino CIT.

Another related benefit event will take place on Saturday, 28 February, at Galerie Spektrum and Fraktál club, curated and dramaturgically led by the RSC collective and curator Anna-Natalie Fajnorová (aka HNAT).
