The winner of the Michal Ranný Award for 2012 is Daniel Balabán. The award includes a solo exhibition of the artist organized by the Moravian Gallery in Brno. The current exhibition project is conceived as an open dialogue with the artist about painting — the possibilities and limitations of this “classic” medium, techniques, inspirations, unifying concepts, subject transformations, private points of departure and proper form. Daniel Balabán (*1957) is one of the outstanding figures on the contemporary art scene, an artist who consistently and determinedly explores the limits of the possibilities of painting as a medium which is still alive today.
