The exhibition presents Caucasian, Anatolian, Persian, and Turkmen carpets in all their cultural and formal diversity. Individual regions and communities are reflected in these carpets through their specific symbolism, color schemes, materials, and weaving techniques.
Contemporary artists continue this tradition in different ways. Eva Brodská creates hand-woven tapestries inspired by landscape, light, and her personal experience with the natural environment. Karíma Al-Mukhtarová combines the medium of textiles with artistic research focused on themes of cultural memory, migration, and hybrid identity in her tapestries.
The encounter between historical tapestries and contemporary textile art opens a dialogue between tradition and the present, between collective memory and individual experience. Here, textiles function not merely as decorative objects, but as a medium capable of preserving stories, identity, and traces of cultural movement over time.
