Screening of the documentary 100 Years of the House of Art in Ostrava.

This documentary film traces the 100-year history of the unique House of Art in Ostrava, a building whose exterior clearly reflects the city’s industrial environment, yet whose purpose seemed somewhat out of place amid the mines and steel mills. The story of this architectural gem, which today houses the Ostrava Gallery of Fine Arts, unfolds against the backdrop of an exceptionally eventful period in the 20th century, marked by many complex political and artistic upheavals. What developments did it undergo, and who influenced—and how—the artistic life within the House of Art?
