3:00 PM Art Workshop with Hana Sommerová – Focusing on Our Own View
This workshop for children and adults, tied to Hana Sommerová’s exhibition, will focus on the motif of windows and views as parts of our everyday lives that we often overlook. Participants will create their own translucent collage combining a drawing on tracing paper with cut-out silhouettes of a window frame and interior. They will use the drawing to capture a real or imaginary view from the window and the silhouette made of colored paper to represent the window frame. They will then glue the individual layers together to form an image that plays with translucency, light, and overlapping. The finished collage can be placed directly in a window, where it will become a subtle intervention in a familiar environment and offer a new perspective on a familiar place. Like the exhibition, the workshop encourages participants to slow down, meditate, observe, and discover beauty in the ordinary motifs and situations that surround us every day. So come and be mindful.
